Situation

PlayBox Neo, a leading provider of media playout solutions, identified a growing need among its customers – broadcasters, government organizations, universities, and corporate AV facilities – for cost-effective, broadcast-grade captioning and multilingual translation. Traditional human-based solutions were expensive, resource-heavy, and difficult to scale, while compliance with regulations such as FCC, Ofcom, ACMA, and the upcoming European Accessibility Act (EAA) made accessibility a business-critical requirement.

The challenge: enable organizations of all sizes to deliver captions and translations that expand reach, reduce costs, and simplify compliance – without disrupting existing workflows.

To meet this need, PlayBox Neo partnered with AI-Media, a pioneer in AI-powered captioning and translation. Together, they integrated advanced accessibility and multilingual solutions directly into the PlayBox Neo playout ecosystem.

ALTA 2110 IP Encoder – Supports SMPTE ST 2110 workflows, delivering same-language and translated captions with ultra-low latency.

LEXI Text – Automated captions with broadcast-grade accuracy, powered by AI-Media’s Topic Models for speaker names, technical terminology, and brand-specific language.

LEXI Recorded – Pre-recorded captions produced in less than half the program runtime.

LEXI Voice – Real-time multilingual voice translation for live and on-demand content, extending reach globally.

These integrate seamlessly with PlayBox Neo solutions such as AirBox Neo, TitleBox Neo CG, and the PlayBox Neo Suite, allowing customers to deploy captions and translations without new infrastructure.

PlayBox Neo has already implemented the technology at Cheddar, a live financial news network, using AI-Media’s ALTA 2110 encoder to deliver both same-language and translated captions.
